Sudbury Junior Wolves regained top spot in the NOJHL last night by
defeating the visiting Sault Ste Marie Thunderbirds by a score of 6
to 4. Despite the Soo's 4 games in 5 nights, they managed to keep the
Wolves' fans entertained throughout the whole contest.
The race for first place is open to all teams and the Jr. Wolves
with now 21 pts are ahead of the second place Skyhawks by one point.
Third place is shared by the Blind River Beavers and the Soo Indians
which trail the leaders by only three.
The Jr Wolves
completed the first period leading 3 -2 with goals scored by Lucas
Faganely, Matt Chiupka and Scott Restoule. The second period
was like a carbon copy of the first as the Jr Wolves scored three
more goals for the win to give them a 6 - 4 lead.
Scoring in the second period were Jeffrey Verreault, Brenden
Biedermann and Jesse Graham.
Scoring for the Thunderbirds were Adam
Pyymaki, Matt Conway, Tyler Gendron and Andy McMillan.
Darren Rowlanson completed the goaltending duties stopping 33 of 37
shots fired his way. Travis O Brien and Ryan Dube shared the net
minder's duties facing 36 of the Sudbury shots.
The Jr
Wolves will visit the Soo Indians on Friday Nov 3rd at the
Big Bear Arena in Michigan.
